Attending our Perth vascular clinic

Attending a new vascular clinic and having a surgical procedure can feel overwhelming. At our well-regarded vascular clinic in Perth, you’re in safe hands and we’ll be there every step of the way.


Making a booking

Please contact us to book an appointment. You will need a current GP referral.

Your first appointment:

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment and bring:

  • a current GP referral.

  • a list of your medications – over the counter and prescription.

  • test results from any recent ultrasounds, scans or blood work.

  • a completed New Patient Information Form.

During your appointment, Dr Ritter will:

  • get to know you and discuss your medical history.

  • discuss your current condition.

  • perform a specialised vascular ultrasound at no extra cost.

  • outline your treatment options.

  • collaborate with you to plan next steps.

Pre-op information:

  • Please advise your doctor if you’ve had COVID within the last seven weeks.

  • If you’re taking any form of blood thinner and / or diabetic medication, there is a specific timeframe that you must stop taking it prior to your procedure. Please download the pre-op checklist below for more information.

  • If you’re on insulin, please talk to your anaesthetist about when to stop taking it.

  • Please take a shower the evening before your procedure and clean the areas where we will be cutting or inserting instruments through the skin. Ideally, please use chlorhexidine wash, which can be found at any chemist.

  • Do not have any food or drinks after midnight before your procedure.

  • Do not smoke after midnight before your procedure.

  • Please ensure that you arrive at the hospital on time. The check-in process can be lengthy, and it is important to prevent delays and avoid cancellations.

  • We recommend you bring something to keep you occupied, like a good book, while you recover after your procedure.

Post-op information:

  • If you experience any unusual pain or increasing swelling after returning home, please contact us immediately. If it is after-hours, please go to your nearest emergency department.

  • Follow up is important for good surgery outcomes. Dr Ritter will arrange review appointments at appropriate intervals.

  • Please download the post-op checklist specific to your condition below.

  • The length of your hospital stay will depend on your procedure.

  • Please organise for somebody to pick you up from hospital.
