Dr Ritter and the team of the WA State Unit for Connective Tissue Disorder Complex Aortic Surgery, based at Fiona Stanley Hospital, recently visited Professor Joseph Coselli at the Baylor College in Houston, USA.
The Texas Heart Institute is the biggest centre in the world performing open thoraco-abdominal aneurysm repairs, a surgery of maximal difficulty that is reserved to few select centres.
The WA program is led by Drs. Ritter, Bond, Edelman and Pavey, who had the unique chance to observe the high volume set up and exchange expertise with the world leaders in the field. This was an extraordinary opportunity to further strengthen the existing program in Australia and WA.
